Abstract

Insomnia symptoms can negatively affect physical health, mental well-being, and daily functioning among adults. This study examines the prevalence of insomnia symptoms and their association with selected lifestyle factors. Insomnia is assessed through difficulty falling asleep, frequent nighttime awakenings, early morning awakening, reduced sleep duration, and poor sleep satisfaction. Lifestyle factors considered include screen time, caffeine intake, physical activity, stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, irregular sleep schedules, and sedentary behavior. The findings suggest that higher stress levels, excessive evening screen exposure, irregular sleep timing, and frequent caffeine consumption are associated with greater insomnia symptoms. Low physical activity and unhealthy lifestyle patterns may further contribute to poor sleep outcomes. In contrast, consistent sleep routines, regular exercise, reduced nighttime screen use, and effective stress management are associated with better sleep. The study highlights the importance of healthy lifestyle practices in reducing insomnia symptoms and improving overall sleep quality among adults.
