Abstract

Adverse drug reactions are unintended and harmful effects that may occur during the appropriate use of medicines and can influence treatment outcomes and patient well-being. This study examines common adverse drug reactions and their impact on patient health. Frequently reported reactions include gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, headache, skin rashes, fatigue, allergic responses, and changes in appetite or sleep. Factors such as age, multiple medication use, underlying diseases, incorrect dosing, and drug interactions may increase the likelihood of adverse reactions. The findings suggest that adverse drug reactions can reduce treatment adherence, increase healthcare visits, prolong recovery, and negatively affect quality of life. Early recognition and appropriate management are therefore important for minimizing complications. The study highlights the need for patient education, careful medication monitoring, accurate reporting of adverse reactions, and effective communication between patients, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals to promote safer medicine use and improve overall patient health.
