Abstract

Sleep quality is an important factor influencing psychological health, emotional stability, and occupational functioning among healthcare workers. This study examines the association between sleep quality and mental well-being in healthcare professionals. Sleep quality is assessed through sleep duration, sleep disturbances, difficulty falling asleep, nighttime awakenings, and daytime sleepiness. Mental well-being is evaluated using perceived stress, emotional exhaustion, mood, concentration, and overall psychological health. The findings suggest that poor sleep quality is associated with higher stress, increased fatigue, reduced concentration, and poorer emotional well-being. Long working hours, night shifts, irregular schedules, and occupational demands may further contribute to disturbed sleep and psychological strain. In contrast, adequate and regular sleep is associated with better mood, improved alertness, and greater overall well-being. The study highlights the importance of healthy sleep practices, appropriate work scheduling, and workplace support to protect the mental health of healthcare workers.
