Abstract

Data warehouse design for healthcare administrative records is important because healthcare institutions need integrated, accurate, and historical data to manage patient registration, billing, insurance claims, appointments, admissions, discharge records, staff allocation, and compliance reporting. A healthcare data warehouse consolidates administrative data from hospital information systems, billing systems, insurance platforms, laboratory systems, and departmental databases into a structured analytical environment. Existing literature highlights dimensional modeling, ETL processing, patient and provider dimensions, claim fact tables, appointment tracking, data quality control, and regulatory reporting as major components of healthcare data warehousing. However, many healthcare organizations still face challenges such as fragmented administrative records, duplicate patient entries, inconsistent coding formats, delayed reporting, weak data validation, and limited cross-department visibility. This research is important because poor administrative data management can affect hospital operations, billing accuracy, resource planning, compliance monitoring, and managerial decision-making. This article discusses data warehouse design for healthcare administrative records, focusing on source data integration, schema design, patient and service dimensions, administrative fact modeling, ETL workflow, data validation, privacy control, and reporting optimization. The study concludes that an effective healthcare data warehouse improves administrative efficiency, strengthens reporting accuracy, reduces data redundancy, and supports reliable healthcare decision support.
