Database performance monitoring using traditional DBA tools is important because enterprise databases must maintain stable response time, efficient resource usage, and reliable transaction processing. Traditional DBA tools help administrators observe database activity, identify bottlenecks, review query behavior, monitor storage usage, and detect issues related to CPU, memory, I/O, locks, and sessions. Existing literature highlights performance counters, execution plan review, wait-event analysis, index monitoring, session tracking, storage monitoring, alert logs, and backup status checks as major practices in database administration. However, many organizations still face challenges such as slow queries, lock contention, high resource consumption, poor indexing, storage growth, and delayed detection of system failures. This research is important because weak database monitoring can reduce application performance, increase downtime, and affect business-critical operations. This article discusses database performance monitoring using traditional DBA tools, focusing on query monitoring, resource utilization, session analysis, index usage, storage tracking, alert management, and performance reporting. The study concludes that effective monitoring improves database stability, supports faster troubleshooting, reduces operational risk, and strengthens enterprise database reliability.
