Abstract

Software requirement review checklists are important in business applications where approved requirements must clearly describe business rules, user workflows, data inputs, validations, reports, interfaces, and acceptance conditions. In enterprise projects, weak requirement reviews can lead to ambiguity, missing functions, inconsistent stakeholder expectations, poor test coverage, and repeated rework. This article discusses how structured review checklists help analysts, developers, testers, and business users evaluate requirement completeness, correctness, feasibility, consistency, traceability, and testability before design and coding begin. It explains the role of requirement attributes, business rule validation, exception handling, dependency checks, approval records, and acceptance criteria in improving requirement quality. The article also highlights common challenges such as vague user statements, changing business needs, incomplete process details, and weak coordination between technical and business teams. A structured checklist-based review approach is presented to reduce requirement defects, improve communication, support better test planning, and strengthen project control. The study concludes that effective requirement review checklists improve software quality, reduce downstream corrections, and support reliable delivery of business applications.
