Abstract

Complementary medicine is increasingly used by patients with chronic diseases alongside conventional medical treatment. This study examines patterns of complementary medicine use, reasons for its adoption, and related health considerations among adults with long-term conditions. Information is assessed on the use of herbal remedies, nutritional supplements, traditional therapies, yoga, meditation, massage, and other complementary practices. The findings suggest that patients commonly use these approaches to relieve symptoms, improve general well-being, reduce stress, and support disease management. Personal beliefs, previous experience, recommendations from family or friends, and perceived naturalness may influence their use. However, limited communication with healthcare professionals and possible interactions with prescribed medicines may create safety concerns. The study highlights the importance of patient education, open discussion with healthcare providers, and evidence-based guidance to promote the safe and appropriate integration of complementary medicine into chronic disease management.
