Awareness of medicine-related side effects is important for promoting safe medication use and preventing avoidable health problems. This study examines knowledge of side effects associated with commonly used medicines among adults. Awareness is assessed through understanding of possible adverse effects, dosage-related risks, drug interactions, contraindications, and the need to seek professional advice when unexpected symptoms occur. Commonly used medicines considered include painkillers, antibiotics, cold and cough preparations, antacids, antihistamines, and nutritional supplements. The findings suggest that while many individuals recognize that medicines can cause side effects, detailed knowledge regarding specific risks and appropriate responses remains limited. Inadequate awareness may contribute to inappropriate self-medication, continued use despite adverse symptoms, and delayed medical consultation. The study highlights the importance of clear medicine labeling, pharmacist counseling, patient education, and responsible medication practices to improve awareness and reduce preventable medicine-related harm among adults.
