Analgesics are commonly used in the long-term management of chronic pain, but patterns of use may vary according to pain severity, duration, underlying condition, and access to healthcare. This study examines analgesic use among patients with chronic pain, including the types of medicines used, frequency of consumption, treatment duration, self-medication practices, and adherence to prescribed therapy. The findings suggest that many patients rely on repeated analgesic use to manage persistent pain, while some may alter dosage or combine medicines without professional guidance. Long-term or inappropriate use may increase the risk of adverse effects, drug interactions, and reduced treatment effectiveness. Regular medical review and appropriate pain assessment are therefore important for safe treatment. The study highlights the need for patient education, individualized pain management, medication monitoring, and integration of non-pharmacological approaches to improve pain control while reducing avoidable risks associated with prolonged analgesic use.
