Abstract

Software quality evaluation is important for open-source content management systems because these platforms are widely used for websites, portals, blogs, institutional pages, e-commerce extensions, and digital publishing environments. Open-source CMS platforms often contain core modules, themes, plugins, user management functions, database operations, security controls, and third-party integrations that must remain reliable, usable, maintainable, and secure. Traditional evaluation may focus only on visible features or user popularity, but this does not fully measure internal quality factors such as code maintainability, update stability, plugin compatibility, performance behavior, vulnerability exposure, and documentation support. This article focuses on software quality evaluation of open-source content management systems by examining functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability, security, extension quality, and community support. The study discusses how structured quality evaluation can help developers, administrators, and organizations select suitable CMS platforms and identify improvement areas. The article concludes that systematic CMS quality evaluation can improve platform selection, reduce operational risk, support safer customization, and strengthen long-term website sustainability.
