A software metrics dashboard is important for project monitoring and control because software managers need a clear view of schedule progress, cost status, defect trends, test coverage, team productivity, requirement changes, and release readiness. Software projects often generate data from issue trackers, version control systems, testing tools, build pipelines, and project management platforms, but this information becomes difficult to use when it remains scattered across different tools. Traditional project reporting may depend on manual status updates, which can be delayed, incomplete, or inconsistent. This article focuses on software metrics dashboards as a structured method for collecting, visualizing, and analyzing key project indicators in real time. The study discusses how dashboards can support early risk detection, progress tracking, quality monitoring, resource planning, and decision-making during the software development lifecycle. The article concludes that an effective software metrics dashboard can improve project transparency, strengthen managerial control, reduce delivery uncertainty, and support better software quality outcomes.
