Abstract

Software quality assurance is important in academic information systems because universities and colleges depend on reliable software for student records, admissions, examinations, attendance, fee management, course registration, faculty data, learning platforms, and administrative reporting. Academic systems often handle sensitive information and multiple user roles, including students, faculty members, administrators, department heads, and examination officers, which makes accuracy, security, usability, and availability essential. Traditional quality checks may focus only on functional testing, but they may not fully address data integrity, access control, workflow consistency, report correctness, performance, and user satisfaction. This article focuses on a software quality assurance framework for academic information systems by examining requirement validation, test planning, data verification, security testing, usability evaluation, defect tracking, regression testing, and continuous quality monitoring. The study discusses how a structured QA framework can reduce operational errors, improve academic process reliability, protect institutional data, and support better decision-making. The article concludes that effective software quality assurance is necessary for maintaining dependable, secure, and user-friendly academic information systems.
